Week 2 of Young Fives!

It has been a great 2 weeks with our new young fivers.  They are beginning to get used to the routines, such as walking down the hall with one finger on our hips, and the other on our lips.  We walk right down the center line in the hall and if another class comes, they better move over...because our teacher told us to walk on the line!  Haha!  You may have heard some things about resets or the thinking chair.  Those are some of our approaches to teach the kids how to be successful.  If they are reset, they must go to the reset wall, look at their feet, and think about making a better choice.  Resets only last about 30 seconds, just enough to get their attention and start over.  We welcome them back and try to focus our energy on the positive behaviors that are happening.  If they reset for a second time for the same thing, then they sit in the thinking chair for a few minutes and miss five minutes of playtime, so that we can have a chat about making better choices.  That has been the main event of the week...routines, routines, and more routines.  We did learn the poem, "Jack Be Nimble" and we have been singing and dancing a lot to learn and get our wiggles out!  Hope you have a super weekend and we are looking forward to week 3!

Did you know?

Did you know that our kids from last year are now leading their kindergarten classes? We are so excited to see their confidence shine!

My New Website!

While I love my other website, I will not be able to access it beginning in June.  So, I decided it was time to explore other options for hosting my information and I am so excited to get this started.  I am planning on adding lots so this is definitely a work in progress, but the best part so far is the posterous link on the right side of the page.  The kids are turning into amazing writers and I wanted to post some of their stories.  My plan is that the leader each day will get to write their story on the smartboard instead of in their writing book.  Then I can easily post it.  You can click on the link or go directly to: http://www.youngfives.posterous.com/.
